What educators are saying
Description
There is so much that goes into laying the groundwork for expectations and culture building in a classroom before the skill, strategy, and concept lessons can begin. This resources combines the 10 lessons I always teach BEFORE diving into reading pacing each year in my classroom. The goal is to create a culture and community around literacy that will enable students to grow, students to work independently, and you to maximize every minute of your literacy block.
The TEN mini-lessons covered in this resource are intended to help your students view themselves as a reader. The lesson titles are:
LESSON 1: Readers have great traits.
LESSON 2: Readers really read.
LESSON 3: Readers have reading stamina.
LESSON 4: Readers choose books that fit.
LESSON 5: Readers take care of books.
LESSON 6: Readers know how to find books.
LESSON 7: Readers ask questions.
LESSON 8: Readers talk about what they read.
LESSON 9: Readers write about what they read.
LESSON 10: Readers conference on what they read.
