Description

This concept was originally designed by the Exploratorium. As a special education teacher, I've made instructions that include actual pictures to support my students ability to understand the construction of the project.

For more information and ideas on how to expand the use of this instrument in a classroom setting, please go to the Exploratorium website. They have many great ideas for other instruments as well.

In self-contained classrooms and therapeutic day schools for students with Autism, I've used this instrument in units covering concepts of change, group/peer engagement, musical pitch and as a fine motor activity. It has always led to a lot of fun. It is also a great exercise to practice purposeful breathing.

***ALLERGY WARNING: latex gloves are used in these instructions, and balloons are also possible. For those with latex allergies, any other thin rubbery substance will work, such as vinyl gloves.***

Happy music making!
