BUILD A ROBOT GEOMETRY CRAFT
A craft to reinforce 2D and 3D shapes.
Integrate first grade math and art to reinforce concepts in a fun and engaging way! Practice and solidify core math concepts with this adorable robot geometry math craft! My students LOVE learning math through art activities, and my classroom is always bright and colorful as we display our projects.
- This simple project integrates math and art together to create a super cute robot made of either 2D or 3D shapes. Students color and cut out their shapes, then organize them together to make a robot before gluing the pieces to colored paper. At the bottom, students count and record how many of each shape they used to make their robot.
- All the templates are included so all you have to do is print them out for each student. There are mixed 2D shapes together all on one page, and 3D mixed shapes together all on one page. There is also a version with each type of single shape isolated to a page so you can copy onto specific colored paper (ie: circles yellow, triangles blue, etc). This option makes it easier for younger students to count how many shapes they used.
- The coloring, cutting, gluing and problem solving makes it a perfect hands-on activity.
- This craft is simple enough to be used in an independent math center. Just print the example from the cover and let students create! You can also print the pieces on thick paper and laminate them for students to use over and over again at a math center - they simply place the shapes together without gluing them.
- These cute robots make an awesome classroom or hallway display!
