This oil pastel art lesson inspired by Wayne Thiebaud is perfect for upper elementary or middle school art students and can be taught during the month of February for Valentine's Day. Students will be able to use oil pastels to create a 3D looking box of chocolates including highlights and shadows. The students will also learn and discuss the life and artwork of artist Wayne Thiebaud. PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides can be shown to your students in class or remotely. The slides include standards (combine creative and technical knowledge to produce visually strong works of art. (VA.68.O.1.3), day by day goals, objectives, vocabulary (Pop Art, value and form, student examples, reflection questions, rubric and a YouTube video art tutorial to demonstrate oil pastel steps and techniques to create a box of chocolates.
