What educators are saying

Great final assessment! Very thorough and different types of questions at various levels of thinking. I appreciated that it was editable too, so that I could tailor it more specifically to my class as needed.

Description

I love using Born a Crime with middle and high school learners. But despite all the rock star resources out there for various ages, it was still important to me to have RICH READING ASSESSMENTs handy as part of my unit study.

This NEW AND IMPROVED IN JULY 2023 111 point (organized into 6 sections) quiz is effective as a reader's self-check-ins for students, works to scaffold other larger tasks, and is entirely auto-graded.

Through feedback, I have revamped, clarified, and varied question styles (direct, inferencing, context-clues skills assessment, narrative elements analysis, theme statements, etc.) and all the questions span various stages of the novel!

Additionally, this quiz will save YOU tons of time grading and tracking reading comprehension data, is easy to share via link with learners, and has been successful with awesome students at my school and evening programs from grades 8-11!

Purpose: This quiz assesses readers' understanding of ALL chapters in the autobiographical novel, Born A Crime, by Trevor Noah.

Instructions:

  1. Read each question carefully, and answer all questions
  2. There are a total of 6 sections for 111 points
  3. Review your score and feedback (Note: incorrect responses are explained)

Timeline: varies according to learner; approximately 45 minutes
