What educators are saying

This was a great resource to use with my class. Some of my students do not yet fully appreciate how the tone of their voice can affect the message that they are trying to convey.
This was great to work with one of my private practice speech students who was in middle school. She struggles with using the correct tone of voice and recognizing it, so this was perfect!

Description

This set of Boom cards for middle and high school students helps them learn to identify and practice emotional tones of voice. Perfect for teletherapy and distance learning, this set has four tiers of activities to work on identifying emotional tone and producing it accurately.

Identify Emotional Tone, Level 1:  In these activities, tone and words match.  Student listens to sentence and choose emotional tone from choice of 3 fun emojis.

Identify Emotional Tone Level 2:  In these activities, tone and words don't match. Students listen to the sentence and identify the emotion of the tone. but not necessarily, the words, given 3 emotion emojis. Then, they can say what tone should have been used.

Practice Emotional Tone Level 1: students are given a sentence to practice having their own tones of voice match that one emotion. Students can hear models of emotional tone. Therapist provides feedback.

Practice Emotional Tone Level 2: students say one sentence 3 different ways, using 3 different emotional tones. Students can hear models of emotional tone. Therapist provides feedback. Students can also record their practice attempts at different tones and play them back!

All directions and statements are pre-recorded. Students press on microphone icon for directions and mouth icon to hear the sentences read to them. Perfect for assigning for homework.

There is a next level set of cards where students learn about tone specific to social situations here.
