What educators are saying

Very easy to use! Thank you!!! I like the accountability this provides without overloading students with heavy assignments while reading a book. It lets them enjoy it!
I wanted my book clubs to be structured but give students the freedom to read at their own pace and reflect on their reading! This resource was perfect! My students are enjoying to read again!

Description

Book Club Activities for any book! Everything you need for engaging, exciting, and easy to manage Book Clubs for grades 3-5. Get your students excited about reading and being a member of Book Clubs in the classroom!

Print and go or use digitally, this resource helps you manage your Book Clubs wherever you are and however works for you.

Are you hosting Book Clubs in your elementary classroom? I LOVE making Book Clubs part of our routine and I know how important it is to hold our students accountable and make sure they're getting the MOST out of their time in Book Clubs!

Book Club Activities resource includes:

-10 Weeks of Weekly Reflections

-1 Final Reflection to provide you with insight about students' overall experience in Book Clubs and their understanding of the book

-10 Questions of the Day - Higher Order Thinking comprehension questions (Half sheets to save paper)

-12 Discussion Starter task cards to spark meaningful discussions about the book

-Cover Page to keep student materials organized

Covers several ELA standards for grades 3-5

Students practice 3 important reading skills in each Weekly Reflection:

-Summarizing

-Predicting

-Identifying Elements of Plot

Additionally, students select which reading skill they focused on throughout the week. You can base this selection off of your current standard OR allow the students to choose based on the skill that stood out to them the most. Each weekly reflection asks students to provide an example of a reading skill in action, using evidence from the text.

Students will choose between:

-Question & Answer

-Compare & Contrast

-Character Traits

-Sequence of Events

-Main Idea & Details

-Cause & Effect

-----------------------------------------

With this resource, you will have everything you need to support your students with Book Clubs! Because Book Clubs are all about reading and having meaningful conversation that deepen our understanding of the book, we need to know that our students have the tools they need in order to do so.

Having students collaborate to complete one Question of the Day per week, one Weekly Reflection (I do these on Fridays), and providing them with supplemental Discussion Starters ensures that they are held accountable and getting the most out of their Book Club meetings.

Knowing that students are able to work independently provides you with the opportunity to roam the room and listen in on the magic of Book Clubs!
