What educators are saying

I loved the foldable cauldron. The students loved pairing this writing activity with our own "bone soup" we made in class. Cute and a great writing lesson.
My students enjoyed these activities after reading Bone Soup. These activities were easy to prep and implement. Thank you for a great product!

Description

What would soup taste like if it were only made by a single bone and some water? This Halloween version of Bone Soup is a story of sharing, working together, and not jumping to conclusions. If you do not have the book a read aloud link is included in this literacy unit.

This Bone Soup Mini Unit begins with a lesson plan on retelling and a Bone Soup read aloud. Then, students work in teams to go on a retelling story walk around the classroom. After practicing retelling with partners, students complete a cauldron craft and writing activity that is perfect for your fall bulletin board. Next, the class uses pretzels, marshmallows, M&M’s, and candy corn to make their own “Bone Soup.”

FOCUS:

Reading Strategy: Retelling/Summarizing - Recount a Folktale
