FAQ’s:
Q: Could this story be used with Grade 6’s? What about Grade 10’s?
A: It could be used with grade 6 but I would recommend modifying it to either study a few people as a class or shorten the texts to make them simpler for students. The writing isn’t hugely complex, but each biography is a 1-2 pages long.
Q: How long will this resource take to complete?
A: There are a lot of options to use this resource. You could choose to simply read one biography with the class and answer questions (1-2 lessons), or do a number of the activities and extension research that could take a few weeks!
Q: Who is included?
A: Viola Desmond, WIllie O’Ree, Mifflin Wistar Gibbs, Barbara Howard, Dany Laferrière, Trey Anthony, Fabienne Colas, Corneille, Chris Boucher et Sarahmée Ouellet.
