Description

If you are teaching Primary Source Analysis, then this activity is PERFECT for you. Use this product during Hispanic Heritage Month, Dr. King's Birthday, or Black History Month. Because of the layering of products (pre-activity, lesson, graphic organizer, and essay), this is a tool to teach and reinforce primary analysis skills.

NO PREP NECESSARY! I've done all the work (other than making copies) for you, including a pre-activity to expose your students to the subject-matter.

IDEAL FOR:

  • College-Prep Students
  • Pre-AP Students
  • AP Students
  • DE Students
  • Appropriate for lower levels (to include middle school) where teacher adapts as necessary.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

  • Pre-Activity to introduce students to the subject-matter
  • Cesar Chavez's speech (public domain) given at Dr. King's funeral with Close Reading Questions to help students obtain a deeper understanding of the speech. An Answer Key is also provided.
  • A Graphic Organizer helps students compare and contrast elements of the speech and Cesar Chavez with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. An Answer Key is also provided.
  • A Essay Writing Prompt is provided. At this point, students will have obtained a deep understanding of the speech. Thus, I have used this writing prompt as an Assessment. An Answer Key is provided.
