Description

This unit comprises of poems and speeches by famous Black poets. I suggest you use this for grades 8-12. Students should be familiar with figurative language to answer some of the PARCC questions.

The excerpts analyzed includes:

*Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
*Ain't I A Woman by Sojourner Truth
*Mother to Son by Langston Hughes
*On Being Brought from Africa to America by Phillis Wheatley
