Description

Alma Thomas was a renowned African American artist known for her vibrant and abstract paintings. Her work is a great subject for an art history lesson and art project that can be used to teach your students about her unique style and the role of African American artists in art history.

Here are some ways you can incorporate Alma Thomas into your curriculum:

  1. Introduce Alma Thomas: Start by introducing your students to Alma Thomas and her work. You can show them examples of her paintings, share information about her life and career, and discuss the significance of her art in the context of African American art history.

2. Analyze her style: Once your students are familiar with Alma Thomas's work, encourage them to analyze her style. Ask them to identify the shapes, colors, and patterns in her paintings and discuss how they contribute to the overall composition.

3. This lesson will help your students create their own Alma Thomas-inspired art: After analyzing Alma Thomas's style, have your students create their own artwork inspired by her techniques.
