Worksheets included in this bundle:

1. Create Your Own Dichotomous Keys

This not only allows for the initial, surface level understanding of what a dichotomous key is, but allows the student to fully immerse themselves and gain a much deeper understanding of the entire process. Students must create their own dichotomous keys using selected species. They are given two formats they can use, either graphical or traditional.

2. Junkfood Kingdom

Students have to place themselves in the shoes of a taxonomist. They are given a variety of snack foods, chips, granola bars, popcorn... basically whatever is handy. Based on the students in this class, this lesson is highly adjustable. Lower level class? Limit the number of 'junkfoods' or make the distinctions between each more easily recognizable. Have a higher level class? Increase the number of 'junkfoods' and make the distinctions between each not so clear. There are 5 reflection questions that must be answered and turned in with their classification system they created.

3. Comparing Domains

This is a three-comparison Venn Diagram assessment. Students are required to spot the differences and similarities among all three domains.

4. Kingdom Chart

This is a simple chart that requires students to isolate information. Students will have to know the 6 kingdoms and identify key characteristics, which domain they are located under, cell wall structures, and examples.

5. Domain Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to see the organization of the domains and kingdoms. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

6. Where do I belong? Kingdom Edition Worksheet

This is a worksheet where students will have to isolate specific facts of each kingdom. They are given clues and using those clues or organisms will have to assign them to a kingdom that they have learned about.

7. Archaea Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the kingdom Archaea. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

8. Bacteria Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the kingdom Bacteria. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

9. Eukarya Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the domain Eukarya. Although it is already constructed with the areas for students to fill out, given the level of detail, it may be easier to rewrite or present this on a poster board. Students will gain understanding on the four kingdoms below the Eukarya domain as well as characteristics of each.

10. Animalia Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the kingdom Animalia. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

11. Phylum Description Chart Worksheet

This is a simple chart that requires students to isolate information from each phylum under the kingdom Animalia. Students will have to know the phyla and identify key characteristics and examples of each.

12. Where do I belong? Animal Phyla Edition Worksheet

This is a worksheet where students will have to isolate specific facts of each phyla under the Animalia kingdom. They are given clues and using those clues or organisms will have to assign them to a phylum that they have learned about.

13. Vertebrata Class Description Chart Worksheet

This is a simple chart that requires students to isolate information from each class under the subphylum Vertebrata. Students will have to know the phyla and identify key characteristics and examples of each.

14. Where do I belong? Vertebrata Classes Edition Worksheet

This is a worksheet where students will have to isolate specific facts of each class under the Vertebrata subphylum. They are given clues and using those clues or organisms will have to assign them to a phylum that they have learned about.

15. Comparing Vertebrates and Invertebrates

Using a Venn Diagram, students will have to compare and contrast invertebrates and vertebrates and then be able to identify if they are more different or more alike.

16. Fungi Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the kingdom Fungi. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

17. Plantae Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the kingdom Plantae. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

18. Plantae Graphic Organizer with Phyla

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the kingdom Plantae. Students will also be able to see the relationships between the kingdom and the phylum under each as well as key characteristics. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

19. Vertebrata Class Description Chart Worksheet

This is a simple chart that requires students to isolate information from each phyla under the kingdom Plantae. Students will have to know the phyla and identify key characteristics and examples of each.

20. Protista Graphic Organizer

This is a graphic organizer with the primary objective for students to identify characteristics of the kingdom Protista. It is already constructed with the areas students have to fill in, so it can be a quick assignment for students to gain understanding without so much busy work.

21. Comparing Plantae and Animalia

Using a Venn Diagram, students will have to compare and contrast plants and animals and then be able to identify if they are more different or more alike.

22. Comparing Plantae and Fungi

23. Photo Journal Project

This is a project where students will be documenting and details examples from the domain Eukarya. Students will use real world examples to help sort and organize all of the classification and taxonomy infomration that they will be learning about in class. They will create a journal with an organism per page with details about each organism.

24. Reading a Dichotomous Key

This is a worksheet where students are presented with 9 animals. Students will have to use a dichotomous key to identify these animals. A key is provided with this worksheet.
