Description

This choice project takes the classic "biography" a step further. Here, students research a "Change Maker"--someone who has changed the world for the better. Then, students "show what they know" through their choice of creative outlet: diorama, cereal box, Google Slides presentation or poster.

While doing choice projects are usually a stressful experience on the facilitator end, this resource makes it so that every detail is planned out for you. This product contains:

  • An ethnically and gender/orientation-diverse list of "Change Makers" that students can research
  • A choice project introduction slideshow (including lists of what students will need to bring to school depending on the type of project they choose)
  • A sign-up sheet
  • A student-packet for the cereal box project (day-by-day checklist of tasks, a rubric, necessary graphic organizers)
  • A student-packet for the diorama project (day-by-day checklist of tasks, a rubric, necessary graphic organizers, planning guidance)
  • A student-packet for the Google Slides project (day-by-day checklist of tasks, a rubric, necessary graphic organizers, and three video tutorials to help create the Google Slides)
  • A student-packet for the poster project (day-by-day checklist of tasks, a rubric, necessary graphic organizers, planning guidance)
  • A slideshow with the day-to-day to-do list for each group (to go over in whole-group)
  • A teacher/facilitator schedule with reminders of what should be done each day in and out of class
  • Exit tickets for presentations

Project-based learning can be stress-free with the right systems in place. Save yourself hours of prep--the work has already been done for you!
