We all face problems and when those problems arise we must manage and regulate our emotions. Some learners have difficulty identifying whether problems that they face are "big deals" or "small deals" and in turn react in a way which does not match the severity of the problem. These tasks cards provide the first step in managing emotional regulation which is to identify the severity of the problem at hand.

This interactive PDF (16 scenarios) provides learners with a variety of daily situations they might encounter in the home and school settings. After reading the scenario, the learner selects whether they believe it is a "big deal" or a "small deal". These cards additionally provide a prompt for the learner when they have made an incorrect response. Following the prompt, they are given the opportunity to continue trying until they arrive at the correct answer.

This activity can be incorporated into a social emotional learning lesson as a potential extension activity and can be utilized as an individual task, during whole group, or small group.
