Description
Establishing a routine at the start of a class is imperative to a good working routine. It is also important to expose our drama students to works that will stretch them in terms of what they think performance can be. In these challenging times, and in terms of school budgets, taking kids to see professional theatre becomes more and more of a struggle.
One method to help with this is to have a bell ringer at the start of a lesson. These here are all video excerpts from professional productions, with questions aimed to have your students thinking about what they are seeing. The excerpts are all released by professional theatre companies, so do not infringe on copyright in any way. They have also been selected to represent a range of performers and plays - showing a diversity of gender, age, ethnicity, physical abilities, background and time.
Included are 40 bell ringer starter activities. Pick and choose which you like, which suit the lesson, or your class, or use them in order. Students can then either write their answers or you could have a class discussion. There will also be an Easel workbook available if you wish to use this with your students as well. Each activity ranges in length depending on the video - but most are around 2 minutes long. This will give you enough time to complete attendance without wasting learning time.
