Description

This a great sorting activity that gives students practice identifying structural (physical) vs. behavioral adaptations. Reuse this activity in a review station later in the unit, or before semester, end-of-course or annual state tests.
Students need repetition to aid retention of key concepts; I revisit this sort activity a couple days after introducing it and challenge student groups to "see who can correctly finish this sort the fastest." (I usually offer the winners cookies at lunch or some small reward).
An answer key is included.
This sort was originally designed for use with Texas 5th grade science students, however it would be a handy review for 7th graders studying life science or even 9th grade Biology students.
This activity would also work as a self-guided activity in a Montessori classroom!
