Band Lesson Plan Genie

Are lesson plans becoming an overwhelming activity to satisfy your administration?

This is my "Band Lesson Plan Genie"! - I began creating this spreadsheet style lesson plan to suffice for my administration lesson plan submissions at the time. They wanted so many other details besides the content I was actually using to teach and rehearse with. In addition, there wasn't always a whole lot of things I would really be changing from week to week. I already had many routines that scaffolding and layered on top of each other as we would progress through music leading up to a performance.

This spreadsheet system could be used for all your band classes by day or week. Please be sure to watch this overview video to see how easy it is to manipulate this for your needs. You can copy/paste the workbook tab to merely create your whole marking term's lessons and have them all in one easy-to-navigate place!

It definitely produces more than enough info and data that you would need, however most admin. teams have loved to see this in the format in which it's presented.

• State music standards that auto-populate when checked (these are currently Florida's, but you can easily replace your state's standards)
• NAfME music standards that auto-populate when checked
• Week/Unit learning goals set up in a dropdown menu (based on standards)
• Week/Unit learning objectives set up in a dropdown menu
• Music/Playing activities set up in a dropdown menu
• Check boxed selections of many materials used
• Low/Medium/High & Essential example question banks set up in drop down menus
• Reciprocal Strategy examples that auto-populate when checked
• ESE Accommodations section where you can add student names. It also has nearly every ESE exceptionality on a dropdown menu and different typical class/testing accommodations in drop down menus
• ELL (English Language Learners) formerly referred to as ESOL - Accommodations section where you can add a list of ELL student names, as well as check off which strategies are used along with drop down menus of detailed accommodations.
• Common Core Language (ELA) benchmark standards that auto-populate when checked along with language topics drop down menus
• Common Core Math benchmark standards that auto-populate when checked along with math focused topics drop down menus
