BAND E-MAIL GENIE - watch this overview video
Have you as a band teacher, ever felt these things:
- You send very similar e-mails often for repeatedly similar behaviors, or wish you could?
- You have to always reserve a chunk of extra time to look up, copy & paste an email address, or message? But you want to be more communicative with parents with day-to-day praises or concerns, right?
- You intend to send a message to parents about positive or negative moments in class, but then you get busy and forget to do it?
Do you ever wish you could have a more efficient system to save time, mental energy, and get it all done with these wants?
The Band E-mail Genie Grants Your Wishes!!!
This google workbook has pre-written automated messages. With just a couple of clicks, you can send those quick, to-the-point messages to parents, with minimal upfront set-up. Hover your mouse (or finger on a tablet) over the hyperlinked button cell, and tap, tap….done!
- Paste in your students’ first & last names, parent e-mail addresses, class period, and instrument
- Double-check that you like the email subject titles, and wording of messages
- It is advised to have an email app operational on your computer with your school e-mail, and/or on your tablet. Most would use Office 365, Outlook, Yahoo!, iCloud, etc. to sync their e-mail address on their machine/tablet.
Student #1 - says “I left my instrument at home”
Student #2 - says “I left my music at home”
Student #3 - they were tardy to class
Student #4 - is a tuba player, and they forgot their mouthpiece
Student #5 - Played their seating/chair test, and was super awesome!
How long would it normally take you to notify parents of these typical 5 things that could honestly happen within the same class period? With this workbook….in a matter of fewer than 30 seconds. Scroll, find the name, find the message, tap, tap, done!
I have more than 50 “typical” situational e-mails pre-written for you. You can change any of the message bodies or subjects if you wish, then they are always there! There is also one “EXTRA” in each category if you’d like to add one I haven’t thought of or one that pertains more specifically to your class environment. It creates the subject, message body, and includes the student name within the message body!
By using this system over the last few years, I've noticed:
- an increase of appreciation for positive messages
- better communication relationships with parents
- better retention of good band kids
- a decline in student absent-mindedness
- fewer behavior issues overall
Here are the categories and subjects included with preloaded automated e-mail messages for each occurrence:
