Description

Ban Boring Words: Developing an Interesting Vocabulary

Price: 19 pages X .10 = $1.90

Directions: Tell students that certain blah words that pack little descriptive punch are banned. Post replacement words around the room. That way, whenever a child is tempted to use one of the blah words, he or she can quickly glance up and find a much more interesting word to use. Your students will strive to use more creative and descriptive words in their stories. The boring old words just won't do any more. Just being aware of the importance of word choice leads to a whole new level of care and attention to each sentence. While this is most important when writing, students can experiment with the synonyms they are learning when speaking as well.

Just let me know what I can do to help you use my materials. Thanks, Patti
