Balloons Over Broadway Writing and Comprehension Quiz Bundle

Looking for a bundle that has 2 different response to reading writing assignments for the book Balloons Over Broadway? This bundle will help you teach persuasive writing and non fiction writing. It also includes a list of spelling/vocabulary words and a comprehension quiz for the book, Balloons Over Broadway.

In my 3rd grade class, we use the non fiction writing assignment as an extension for my gifted and talented students. We use these newspaper writings as a classroom door decoration. I make a sign that says, "Extra, Extra, read all about it" and then add each student's newspaper. There are anchor charts for text features included in this product. It turns out super cute!

After we read the book, students decide on a balloon that they would like to see if the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Then they draw a design on the design handout included in this bundle. Once finished, they start working on a persuasive writing essay in which they are trying to convince Macy's to choose their balloon design for the next Thanksgiving Day Parade. There is a persuasive writing anchor chart and a graphic organizer included that helps students write their paper by scaffolding each part. I allow students to paint their design in watercolors and label with fine sharpies, add them to a large piece of construction paper with their writing to display in the hallway.
