A back to school bulletin board that celebrates students as individuals and reinforces your classroom expectations! This back to school writing craft is a great way for your students to show what they have learned about being a super student in their new classroom while honoring diversity. It also makes a great display for open house or meet the teacher night!
Do your students' writing abilities vary? Differentiate easily with writing templates with and without sentence starters and handwriting lines included for every grade level.
Teaching a multi-grade classroom? Writing page templates are included for grades K-5.
How much prep work is needed? Simply copy the writing template of your choice, along with a variety of clip art faces. I’ve included six different boy faces and six different girl faces, so each student can select a face that looks like his or her own. Provide scissors, glue, and pencils.
Want to add a pop of color? After writing, students can glue their writing to construction paper or colored printer paper to provide a colorful background. Faces can also be colored with the medium of your choice before pasting onto the top of the writing prompt. I highly recommend using multicultural crayons if you have them.
Need more space to write or draw? I’ve included blank lined page and bordered drawing page options to staple behind the front page before gluing. Readers will simply flip up the first page to continue reading or to view the picture.
