Hi Teachers, I use this curriculum for Elementary and Middle school students.

This Unit Highlights 7 artists. By the end of the unit students will be able to identify the artists work and the themes they used in their work, as well as doing an art project for each lesson. (I would teach the students about the artists in this order)

    Basic Understanding for the UNIT!

    • Pop art = Popular imagery
    • The pop artists chose popular imagery from their  (words, text, ads, celebrities, culture, brands etc.
    • Basically the pop artists chose a theme that they really liked!!!!! They chose to express that common theme throughout their work!

    • The students will gain understanding about each artist and be able to identify the themes they used.

    • Students will aim to use themes and characteristics each artist used.
    • Students will understand the difference between the themes the pop artists chose, and be able to identify the different pop artists.

I'm not perfect but I use these lessons to spark conversation and teach young people about art, these lessons work!!!! My students love learning about the artists and their processes!
