Looking for a creative way to introduce a new author before studying their work? Or maybe a stand-alone sub plan or weekly homework assignment? Look no further! This “Litbook” author introduction activity allows students to get to know traditional literary figures in an untraditional way.

By using the one-page, all-inclusive biography, students can read and learn about the chosen author’s life, work and impression on the literary world. Every biography comes with a famous quote by or about the author, and a list of their most famous works. The biography has all the information needed to fill in the provided “Litbook” profile, but this activity can be easily extended by having students supplement the facts provided with their own research.

This activity not only teaches students the basics about the chosen author, it allows them to dig deeper and get creative by including a status update, close relationships, and even advertisements that may have interested the author.

Once completed, the profiles would make a great display or study sheet for a quiz.
