Description
OUT with worksheets and IN with Engagement
Can students answer all the 32 task cards? Task cards engage students in thinking, reinforcing or assessing knowledge. Questions require students to identify
- government roles and responsibilities
- leadership titles and decision makers
- government buildings
- our nation's capital city
Build confidence by using these multiple choice task cards in these suggested activities:
Classroom Scavenger Hunt
Engage students in thinking and learning, while allowing them the opportunity to discuss problems with different students rather than the ones they usually sit with. Hide all 32 task cards, inside, outside, all around the classroom, for student to find and answer
Table Talk Task Cards
Allow the table groups to mix, shuffle and spread the task cards randomly on their table. Students search and work through the scattered task cards answer the various multiple choice questions. Table talks allow students the opportunity to discuss with their partners or group members to encourage discussion and ensure accuracy.
Assembly Line Assessments effectively engages and builds confidence. As an
alternative to intimidating formal assessments, assembly lines assess
knowledge by breaking tasks up into manageable pieces. Organize task cards numerically. Students receive one card at time, record their response and and pass it through the assembly line. The pace of the assembly line will be dictated by the class, as the work to complete the assessment together.
