What educators are saying

I this is a resource I NEED with my students - so incredibly helpful to get snapshots of listening skills with a closed set of pictures and scripts to lessen my thinking load and focus on the students' abilities and needs!
This resource was easy to use and navigate. It was also easy to use the data to see what weaknesses my student might have in a variety of areas. The graphics were also really nice.

Description

Gather baseline data for auditory skills quickly and easily! This informal assessment helps TODs and SLPs understand their student’s current listening skills.

Skills Included:

  • Auditory Discrimination
  • Phonological Awareness
  • Auditory Memory
    • 2-7 critical elements
    • Words
    • Sentences
  • Auditory Comprehension
    • Auditory Association (auditory closure, listening to descriptions, name the category, what does not belong)
    • Details in Sentences & Paragraphs
    • Sequencing 3-5 event story

This resource does not include every level of every single skill, rather it provides baseline data so that the teacher/therapist understands the student’s current listening skills. This information can be used as a starting point for IEP goals, targets for therapy, and progress monitoring.

Most of the informal assessment is done verbally. The teacher reads off the teacher packet and the student responds verbally. For the following directions with critical elements section, the student points to pictures on the student response pages. For the sequencing section, students use the included pictures to sequence the story.

How I Use It:

I put the student response sheets in a binder. I put the teacher packet with all the questions in the folder of the binder with the sequencing pictures. I print out several copies of the student record sheet (one for each student I plan on using it with). Then I am ready to go!

This resource is also included in the TOD Goals and Data Bundle, which includes an IEP goal bank, rubrics, and a self-advocacy skills screener. Save 20% with the bundle!
