Description

Engage your secondary ELA students with this editable, meaningful, and relevant unit based on James Clear's book Atomic Habits. With various low and no-prep activities and clear daily lesson plans, you will have all the tools you need to have you students analyze and reflect on concepts that directly impact their lives. You do NOT have to have read the book to use this unit and the tools provided!

*Please note: This unit is not a full book study. It only pulls excerpts from the text.

This unit combines nonfiction analysis by having students read excerpts from Clear's book and articles about habits. Students will consider their own habits and identity before moving into poetry about identity. Then they will employ research skills to research successful people before culminating their studies in a final project. This unit is perfect to start off the new year, the new semester, or anytime of the year!

THIS UNIT INCLUDES:

A teacher guide with linked sources

A unit calendar with detailed daily lesson plans

A unit packet for student note taking and a teacher key

A TPCASTT analysis worksheet

A TPCASTT answer key for a practice poem

A TPCASTT poetry analysis quiz and answer key

A Google Slides Summative Habit Plan Project.

All files are editable to fit your classroom needs! Students are able to make personal connections to the unit and as a result will be engaged in the information while learning valuable information and skills related to ELA, their own identity, and analysis.
