Assignment: Build a Concert Program for your Band

This is a very in-depth assignment for building a concert program. It goes over philosophy, cultural considerations, exemplars, and resources for your students to thoughtfully put together a concert program. I find this assignment also cuts down my hours of listening to repertoire over the summer - I can go through my students selected pieces and start building next year's season based on their informed picks!

The file is set up with a checklist of student tasks, and the basis for 4 classroom discussions for you to lead. You could hand this out as is, but I recommend you use this as a guide for this unit, which you could provide as online learning, distance learning, in-class discussion, or an alternate assignment if a student misses a performance. There is also a resource section at the end with links to online resources that you or your students might use to find interesting repertoire!
