What educators are saying

This was a great project to do with my grade 7-8 class. They really enjoyed it and were consistently engaged in their work.
I used this as a little break from our regular curriculum for Art so that my daughter could also do some research at the library. She loved learning about different artists and presenting her findings. Thank you for well laid out project that was easy to follow.

Description

If you would like to purchase the 100% EDITABLE version of this product, click here! Great for differentiation!

For thousands of years, artists have been communicating ideas, beautifying spaces, and generating strong emotions from the artwork that they create. Since many artists get inspiration from their personal experiences, studying an artist can provide great insight into their work. From the reclusive and volatile personality of Jackson Pollock, to the sensitive and mathematical mind of Georges Seurat, artists are as unique as the work they create. For this assignment, students will choose a famous artist to study and create a project to showcase their learning.

This resource guides students through conducting their own research report on a famous artist (90+ topics are listed). After choosing a topic to focus on, students are asked to conduct research using the Internet and books while following criteria. Next, students are asked to share their learning by creating a poster board, presentation board, power point presentation, or dodecahedron (Instructions and Pentagon Template included) . Artwork may also be created to further display learning. Finally, students present their work to the class.

Can be done in partners. Printable Evaluation forms included!

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy in which students are challenged to actively learn about a subject for an extended period of time. It is a form of active learning or inquiry-based learning. Project-Based Learning is in contrast to paper-based, rote memorization, or teacher-led instruction that presents established facts. Please be aware of what you are purchasing.
