How it works:

Resources 1 & 6: Critical thinking inquiry activities

Gauge prior knowledge on ChatGPT & deepfakes with engaging inquiry activities that include analysis questions and a reflection at the end.

Resources 2 & 7: Reading Comprehension

Students read three authentic texts about ChatGPT & deepfakes, and answer reading comprehension questions. Resources are the same format, length, marks and question types as English B Paper 2. A detailed answer key is included.

Resources 3 & 8: Listening Comprehension

Students listen to three authentic audio texts about ChatGPT & deepfakes, and answer 20 listening comprehension questions. A detailed answer key is included. Activity is the same format, length, marks and question types as English B Paper 2 Listening HL.

Resources 4 & 9: Paper 1 Writing

Students choose one writing prompt from three options about ChatGPT & deepfakes. They then decide which is the best text type for them to write in, from a list of three choices. They write a text type between 450 - 600 words. Same format and length as English B Paper 1 HL. Includes paper 1 rubrics and extra clarification for Criterion C.

Resources 5 & 10: Socratic Seminar

Students listen to an audio text about deepfakes & read an article about ChatGPT and answer questions. These questions form the foundation for their Socratic Seminars. They are then divided into two groups - the inner and outer circle. The inner circle discusses the article and their answers, using formal sentence starters which are provided as speaking prompts. During this time, the outer circle observes and completes a peer review.

Once they are finished, the groups swap places and repeat the process. Detailed instructions are included.

Resource 11: BONUS REFLECTION RESOURCE

Students reflect on four overarching concepts of the unit in order to consolidate learning.
