What educators are saying

This a helpful reference wall. It's easy to read and to teach from. I teach third grade and have it posted on the wall next to my small group table.
Love this! I used this for a bulletin board in my speech room and have received a lot of compliments from coworkers. It provides great visuals for students!

Description

Word walls are common in many elementary classrooms, and for good reason! Word walls provide a permanent model for high frequency words and a reference for students to use during reading and writing activities. A print rich environment is beneficial for all learners, and especially those vulnerable to reading difficulty.

This product was created in order to give SLPs something similar for their treatment rooms. The aim of this product is to reinforce sight words (taken from the K-3 Dolch sight word list) as well as support speech development. The posters can be used simply as a reference, or as an interactive warm-up activity targeting speech sound production as well as reading. These posters are in color - Perfect for functional decoration!

This set of “Speech Sound Word Wall” posters features the Dolch sight words for grades K-3. The following sounds are represented: B, CH, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, NG, P, R, S, SH, T, TH, V, W, Y, Z. Please note that vowels are NOT included in this set. The posters include words with the target sound in the initial position, however if the initial position was underrepresented, the poster may also contain words with the target sound in the medial or final position. Most pages include only the service words, however high frequency nouns were included as space permitted. In a few cases, a couple words had to be left off the poster in order to allow for maximum readability.

Included in your download are two files:

1. Speech sounds organized by development: This file contains three groups of sounds, divided according to “early,” “middle” and “late” in development. Each group is a different color, making them perfect for hanging on the wall in groups. Use this file if you’d like a quick reference for parents during meetings to visualize the order of typical speech sound development.

2. Speech sounds organized in ABC order: This file contains the exact same set of sounds, but organized in ABC order (B, C, CH, D, etc.). The colors alternate in a pleasing pattern. Use this file if your primary reason for displaying is to help students locate words for writing.
