What educators are saying

This was a fun art activity that the students enjoyed. We paired it up with reading the book, This is not my hat by Jon Klassen.

Description

This art sub plan is a favorite for substitute teachers and students alike. It is no prep and uses simple materials. Keep a copy of this in your sub folder or sub tub for when you need an emergency lesson plan.

Students have fun drawing their own wacky hats after learning about fun hats throughout art history. Great for a Crazy Hat Day activity!

This includes a PowerPoint and a .pdf that may be used in several ways. The .pptx may be printed out and shown page by page up close or through a document camera or projected. It may be converted to Google Slides and used for distance learning. It may be used in a Zoom type lesson via the web.

It was written as a sub plan for an art class, but could certainly be used by an art teacher or classroom teacher.

The supplies needed are simple. The student will need paper, pencil, crayons or markers.

This lesson is written so that the teacher may teach completely by following the prompts in the slides. It is easy enough to be used by anyone, but still interesting enough to engage students in 2nd grade through 7th grade.

Here is a review for this lesson:

“Hands down my most used sub art lesson! The presentation was engaging and perfectly set out ideas for the children. Allows for so much creativity and complete control by the class - would recommend!”
