Description

A brand new approach to the teaching of Art and Design for schools.

Beginning in PRE K (EYFS UK) moving through to 5th Grade (Year 6 UK) this scheme provides a unit of work for each year group for six areas of art:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Printing
  • Clay
  • 3D Form
  • Textiles

42 units of works across the seven year groups (6 per year per year group) and within each unit a number of lesson plans, links to artists, focused practical activities to get to know how to use media and improve skills before completing a final piece of art work, handy hints for teachers to ensure they feel supported, as well as computing links and research activities.

Tried and tested in a number of UK schools, this scheme has developed teacher confidence through targeting learning, providing teacher handy hints for each unit, identifying unit overviews, lesson objectives and artists/themes for each unit. It has improved standards in those schools with the children embracing the six art forms.

Pupils confidence and engagement has risen - not to mention their artistic skills and appreciation of approximately 35 artists, craftspeople and cultures throughout the world as a result of working through this whole school approach.

Each term has a unit plan for one of the six themes. Simply work through the plan and at the end display the children's art work. The progress is clear. As the year progresses the children will complete 6 themes. As the child moves through the year groups, they will revisit, enhance, extend and embed their art skills in the six key areas.

There is a clear progression of skills through the entire scheme and allow the children to practice, refine and produce quality pieces of art work, whilst at the same time learning about the techniques of well known artists, crafts people and cultural works.

Included within the product is a progression of resources which schools should have in stock already. This provides an audit for subject leaders and a shopping list to ensure you have everything you need for the teaching of Art and Design across the school.

At the end of the scheme, the handy hints from every unit in every year group have all been compiled. This will aid professional development - where the subject leader can lead development meetings to work through each of the units and each skill to ensure teachers are ready to teach the skills within the scheme.

One purchase will support one school and will take one year to implement - but will last much longer as the children embark on new years in every subsequent year. We have produced this resource over many years of teaching, developing, improving and evaluating the lessons, progress and outcomes of pupils. If you are looking for a specific unit within the scheme, these are available to buy separately within our store - this product places the whole scheme together for complete progression.

The preview demonstrates how the scheme works with examples of the unit plans, organisation and resources.
