Art Nouveau Odyssey _Project for Middle School Art

This downloadable package includes an editable PowerPoint presentation, a detailed rubric for assessment, meticulous Art Nouveau templates, and an array of engaging activities that promise both education and enjoyment. Here's a description of each component of the teaching package:

• Art Nouveau Inspired Colouring Book PowerPoint: The 39-slide PowerPoint presentation serves as an introduction to the Art Nouveau movement. It provides an overview of the historical context, key artists, elements of art, and defining features of the Art Nouveau style. It includes student examples to inspire creativity and design templates to help students get started on their colouring book illustrations.

• Design Templates (4 pages): This section of the teaching package includes a set of ready-to-use designs and templates in the Art Nouveau style. These templates can serve as starting points for students who may need assistance or inspiration in their artwork. The templates feature floral patterns, flowing lines, and other characteristic Art Nouveau elements, allowing students to build upon them creatively.

• Speed Drawing Images (14 pages): The package includes speed drawing images as visual references that students use while engaging in speed drawing exercise. These images are meant to be observed and replicated quickly.

• Question Sheet: To enhance students' understanding of Art Nouveau, a question sheet is included alongside a video link that explores the art movement further. The questions prompt students to analyse specific artworks, understand the artists' intentions, and recognise the key features of Art Nouveau.

• Categorization activity: In this activity, students are provided with a set of images related to Art Nouveau and Art Deco artworks. The students will group these pictures into two distinct categories based on key characteristic differences between the two art styles. This PPT slide can be printed out and distributed to students. The students can then use the printed images to cut them out and glue them down in their sketchbooks.

• Reflection Questions: This section includes a set of thought-provoking reflection questions related to the colouring book project. These questions encourage students to contemplate their artistic choices, the incorporation of Art Nouveau elements, and their personal growth throughout the creative process. Reflection questions foster critical thinking and self-assessment.

• Assessment Rubric: The teaching package includes an assessment rubric that outlines the criteria for evaluating the students' colouring book artwork. The rubric covers aspects such as creativity, incorporation of Art Nouveau style, attention to detail, use of colour, and overall presentation.

These artworks will be compiled and printed into a colouring book, ready to be shared with the community. Through this project, the students showcase the importance of giving back and making a positive impact through their passion for art.
