What educators are saying

I used this resource in homeschooling my 16 year old son. We did the activity after visiting the Beyond Van Gogh exhibit in Virginia Beach, VA. It was a helpful supplement to understand this complex and talented artist.

Description

This editable Microsoft Word document includes three 45-minute lesson plans accompanied by printable student activities. Each lesson plan was written using RTII strategies and a place to incorporate your common core or state standards.

For the extremely busy teacher in mind, and being required to write lessons for daily activities, these full LP’s also include the following section content: A Materials List Section, An Activating Strategy (Intro) Section, A Content Section, A Summarizing Activity Section, An Accommodations and Modifications for Special Needs Students Section, as well as a Teacher Assessment Section.

Lesson #1 Objective:
Given the attached Vincent van Gogh reading packet, students will read a short excerpt on Van Gogh’s life as an artist, and answer the multiple choice questions given with the packet. Upon finishing the reading/writing assignment, students will peer grade each other’s papers.

Lesson #2 Objective:
Given the oral instruction from the instructor, students own art kits and sketchbooks – as well as the attached handout and grading rubric, students will recreate Van Gogh’s famous Sunflower’s painting using their own style and techniques of drawing.

Lesson #3 Objective:
Given the oral instruction from the instructor, students will complete the attached crossword puzzle, word scramble, and time permitting, word search.
