Description

Art Escape: “Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh (Grammar Edition). Escape room challenges with a creative twist. Learning is about to get really fun! That’s because this resource combines puzzles, learning, and art!

The lesson begins when students learn about an art heist. As art detectives, they’ll need to work together to solve 5 creative challenges. Each challenge will have them learning more about the stolen piece of art and practicing critical ELA skills. If they can crack the case, they just might get their hands on the masterpiece!

This resource is part of an Art Escape BUNDLE: Grammar Edition.

Here’s how it works

1. Prepare materials (everything is included except the art supplies–markers, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, glue, and tape).

2. Designate a table or desk for the Detective Agency Headquarters. (This is where students will check-in with their clues, get their reward (a piece of the masterpiece collaboration poster) and receive new challenges.)

3. Have students make Detective Notebooks(included).

4. Break students into groups of 3 or 4 students (6 total groups is ideal).

5. Review the Crime Bulletin with the class or the groups.

6. Give the groups their first challenge. Students will need to complete the challenge and fill in their detective notebooks before checking in at the headquarters for their next clue.

7. The groups will work through 5 challenges.

8. After completing each challenge, their reward will be one page of the masterpiece. The masterpiece is “Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh (shhhh, don’t tell your students).

9. When all groups have finished the challenges, colored in their reward pieces, and assembled them, they will have created a poster of the stolen masterpiece!

10. When the art heist has been solved, give students the award page (designed as a single coloring page for students to color and keep).
