Description

This Christmas-themed math pack is designed to guide children from 'counting squares' to seeing area as an array and its relationship to multiplication, and being able to determine the area of composite figures. Included are a poster/anchor chart, 5 activity pages. and all the masters needed to create the crafitivity.

Under the premise helping 'Farmer Ben' plan a new tree lot in town, students will count squares, multiply, use tiling to determine the area. They will also use a model which illustrates the distributive property as it relates to determining area. Determining the area of composite figures is included in both the activity pages and the craftivity, in which students design their own Tree Lot & determine the total area.
