Description

"Archimedes, the Mathematics of Ancient War" is a unit designed to connect math, history and real life in a hands on lab that kids love. This powerpoint presentation introduces Archimedes and highlights a few of his major contributions. It serves as the introduction to a multi-day lab where students actually build and fire catapults. During the firing state, student will collect data and log it into journal. This data serves as foundation to do further work with probability, conversions, fraction work, measurement and more.

The free worksheet that can be found in my store, "The Power of Pulleys," can be incorporated into this and connects work with fraction multiplication and division to real life.
