Archimedes Math of Ancient War Journal - fraction, scale, percents

This 18 page journal is designed to guide students throught the process of creating scale drawings of a catapult, calculating it's area, building it, creating a firing range and drawing roman warships as targets, collecting data while firing the catapults and finally analyzing the data in several different ways.

It takes 1-2 days to go through the scale drawing section. Another day to build the catapults and then another 2 days or so to manage the data analysis portion. This unit is targeted towards the 7th grade common core standards and covers 10 different standards. However, it could be customized to handle standards frmo 6-9th grades.
