April Outdoor Learning Experiences
- PDF
Description
Your April Outdoor Learning plans are done for you! It’s no secret that outdoor learning is one of our favourite parts of the day! We spend time outside everyday in all weather (as long as it is safe to do so). The experiences I share in this document are among our favourite things to do outside in April. Although we are fortunate to have a forest accessible to us, the ideas shared here can be done anywhere! A patch of grass, one tree, a concrete jungle...whatever space you have can work to provide valuable learning.
Rather than sharing a daily plan, I am sharing a collection of ideas that you can fit into your plan in any way that works for you. It is important to be flexible and do what feels right for you and your students. You might choose to spend many days on one experience or a few experiences based on student interest or emerging inquiries.
We spend some of our outdoor time doing planned experiences together and offering new invitations. We also offer time for unstructured play. During this time I like to have some “kits” in our wagon to offer experiences that our learners can choose if they wish. New in this package are also some “Benefits of” pages. These can be printed and sent home to your families to help them see the learning that is happening during outdoor play. This will help with support from families, especially when their children go home with wet or muddy clothes!
