⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This resource was my life saver for September!!! The kids loved the activities and I love how easy it was to differentiate."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This is a GREAT resource to use while teaching apples. Everything I needed was in this one unit. The kiddos loved the activities and it kept them engaged."

The link at the bottom provides a blog post with ideas and books that I enjoy using with my students, however, you can use any apple books with this unit.

--- WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS UNIT? ---

Apple Tree Slideshow

Using real-life pictures, this slideshow walks students through the changes an apple tree goes through throughout the seasons:

  • bare branches in the winter
  • buds in the spring
  • blossoms in the summer
  • apples in the fall

This slideshow comes in a PDF format.

Mini Book

  • Students can read and color their mini book that coordinates with the slideshow.

Apple Vocabulary

Differentiated activities are included.

  • In the first activity, students cut and match the words.
  • Next, students must figure out where each word goes on their own.
  • Also included are vocabulary pages where students trace the words.

Words include seed, bud, blossom, tree, apple and core.

Apple Numbers and Counting

  • Students practice numbers and counting using apples and apple seeds.

Apple Class Book

Make an Apple Counting class book!

  • This book comes in both color and black/white.
  • Each page has a number (1-25 plus a blank apple for you to write more numbers if you need).
  • Every student gets a page and can write what they see at an apple orchard. For example, "I see 8 apple crates."

Apple Tasting and Treats

  • Bring apple treats to class (optional) and make a graph of students' favorites!
  • Students then use the activity page with a word bank and sentence starter to write about their favorite apple treat.

We also love to do an apple taste test activity.

Students can try red, green and yellow apples and document their favorite kind. Then we make a class graph of which color students like the most.

Two apple cider activities are also included: writing a sentence and sequencing.

Apple Art

Included in this unit are printables for apple patterns, apple matching, a blank apple art page and silly apples students can color, paint or decorate.

Sequencing and Comprehension

  • Two different activity pages are included for students to match words to show the changes apple trees go through.
  • We love the applesauce sequencing activity.
  • Students complete an apple orchard writing prompt.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This was a great addition to my apple unit! I loved it so much I bought the whole bundle the next week. If you are debating on buying the year long bundle, just do it!!"

I use these activities throughout the month of September to enhance and enrich our read aloud stories about apples.

You can use any books with these activities, but I have outlined specific stories that lend themselves to these activities.

Read my blog post HERE to see how I teach this unit and for my read aloud book recommendations.

THIS UNIT IS PART OF A MONTHLY ENRICHMENT SERIES!

I love using theme based units to incorporate reading, writing, math, science and social studies into our primary day.
