Description

This activity and experiment is great for midway through the novel, Animal Farm by George Orwell. Students explore clean energy, through wind power. They go through a wind power investigation but little do they know they are being manipulated through a social experiment. Students think they are designing and building a windmill with all of the same materials but will soon see there are inequities based on the character team they are placed on. Great fun while also exploring a science pathway. Students have a science notebook that they will use to collect their ideas and go through the engineering design process.
