Animal Classification Readers Theatre
What educators are saying
Description
Looking for an interesting way to teach basic animal classification? This folder contains readers theatre scripts for teaching about the five groups of vertebrates--reptiles, amphibians, fish, mammals, and birds. Each script is two pages and includes parts for 4-5 students. All together, you will have parts for 23 students.
The scripts are--well, a little silly! In Molly's Mammals, a pet shop owner who wants to sell only mammals deals with customers who want other kinds of pets. Other scripts include a spy's secret mission, an amphibian support group, an interview show with reptiles, and a debriefing after a trip to the aquarium.
Each script includes information about the group's body covering, manner of birth, care for young, and way of controlling body temperature. As students watch the performances, they will complete a Viewing Guide to help them organize the information. At the end, students reflect on their experiences with a Reflection page.
