Description

These free play-doh play-mats are a fun way to introduce Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol and art history to early learners.

They are designed to be used as play-doh playmats by placing them inside a document case or laminating them. However, they can also be used as colouring /drawing activity sheets or as the base for other crafts (e.g. adding recycled flowers to Frida’s hair). The PDF file is A3 but can be printed at any page size.

FRIDA KAHLO
For the Frida play-mat, I focused on Frida’s fabulous floral hairdos. Her artwork, Self Portrait Dedicated to Dr Elosesser, inspired my original illustration. By using some flower-shaped cutters this can be a fun and easy activity.

ANDY WARHOL
The Andy Warhol play-mats are inspired by his magnificent ice cream illustrations. In the 1950s, Andy and his friends used to have colouring parties where they dreamed up amazing, impossible ice cream creations. I have created a sundae and a cone version for you. To match Andy’s creations, you could add some beads, jewels, sequins and buttons to the Play-doh and some ice cream scoops can add to the fun.
