This Andrew Jackson and Cherokee lesson is included in the much larger Andrew Jackson Bundle, located here:
Age of Jackson Bundle! 3 activities for Andrew Jackson! Engaging, Fun & Focused!
----
In this highly-engaging, primary source-based resource, students analyze the relationship between President Andrew Jackson and the Cherokee people prior to the Trail of Tears.
Students are guided through 6 primary source documents where each student analyzes and understands President Jackson's view toward the Cherokee (and other native tribes) and the role that states (mainly Georgia) and the national government held in Native American matters. Students will understand Jackson's desire to move the Cherokee and other tribes west and, in the end, will complete a prompt focusing on the relationship between Jackson and the Cherokee people.
Three prompts are included to provide for easy and discreet modifications for lower-level learns and a teacher key is provided!
This resource includes a paper in-class version and a 1:1 Google compatible version to be used in conjunction with Google Classroom. Just follow the included instructions for how to access the Google version, then share the resource through Google or assign via Google Classroom. This will allow students to type directly into the document!
Enjoy!
