Ancient History Scope and Sequence (NYS 6th Grade Aligned)

This is a rigorous standards-aligned scope and sequence. It was created for 6th grade social studies in New York, and is aligned to both the NYS Social Studies Standards and the Next Generation History Standards. It can easily be adapted for similar standards in other states.

The s&s begins with a geography unit and then covers ancient history of the Eastern Hemisphere, beginning with the Neolithic Revolution and ending with the Age of Exploration.

Part 1 of this resource outlines units and the standards aligned to each.

Part 2 includes essential questions and enduring understandings for each unit.

This is a great resource for educators responsible for creating their own Ancient World scope and sequence! It has been developed over 5 years of curriculum implementation and will help students make relevant connections between the past and the present.
