Ancient Egypt Unit - The Nile
Description
“The Nile” is one of ten songs I’ve written on the subject of Ancient Egypt. The whole pack is available from my store.
The zip file contains:
1. PDF of the music
2. The lyrics in a separate Word document
3. An mp3 vocal backing track
4. An mp3 piano backing track
5. PowerPoint with both the vocal and piano tracks embedded (great if you have speakers attached to your whiteboard!). See the illustration to see the icons – the one on the top left is for the vocal, the one on the right is piano only.
6. PowerPoint of the staff notation
I hope you and your pupils enjoy singing the song! If you do you may want to check out my complete “Ancient Egypt” pack. It contains songs about Tutankhamun, the pyramids, the Nile, mummies, hieroglyphics, the Sphinx, toys and games and Egyptian gods and goddesses.
I’d really appreciate your feedback!
Happy singing!
Donna
The Nile
Chorus:
The Nile a mighty river,
the longest in the world.
Providing Egypt’s life force
as it slowly curls.
From Aswan in the south
to Cairo in the north.
Making farm land fertile,
bringing crops forth.
Heroditus said, and it is true:
“Egypt is the gift of the Nile”.
Without its water what could you do?
You’d be left with desert all the while.
Chorus:
The Nile a mighty river,
the longest in the world…
Predicting the floods was hard to do.
Ancient Egypt thought out a plan.
The huge Nilometers gave a clue.
Was it feast or famine in the land?
Chorus:
The Nile a mighty river,
the longest in the world…
