Ancient Egypt Unit - Hieroglyphics
Description
“Hieroglyphics” is one of ten songs I’ve written on the subject of Ancient Egypt. The whole pack is available from my store.
The zip file contains:
1. PDF of the music
2. The lyrics in a separate Word document
3. An mp3 vocal backing track
4. An mp3 piano backing track
5. PowerPoint with both the vocal and piano tracks embedded (great if you have speakers attached to your whiteboard!). See the illustration to see the icons – the one on the top left is for the vocal, the one on the right is piano only.
6. PowerPoint of the staff notation
I hope you and your pupils enjoy singing the song! If you do you may want to check out my complete “Ancient Egypt” pack. It contains songs about Tutankhamun, the pyramids, the Nile, mummies, hieroglyphics, the Sphinx, toys and games and Egyptian gods and goddesses.
I’d really appreciate your feedback!
Happy singing!
Donna
5. Hieroglyphics
Chorus:
Hieroglyphics, Egyptian writing.
It has been around five thousand years.
Using almost seven hundred signs,
scribes all wrote and made it clear.
Painted on wood or papyrus.
Carved on stone or clay.
From the symbols we can decipher
what the hieroglyphics say.
Chorus:
Hieroglyphics, Egyptian writing.
It has been around five thousand years…
One slab of stone from Rosetta,
found there by the French.
Jean Francois Champollion
figured out what it all meant.
Chorus:
Hieroglyphics, Egyptian writing.
It has been around five thousand years…
