Ancient Egypt Unit - Building a Pyramid
Description
“Building a Pyramid” is one of ten songs I’ve written on Ancient Egypt. All ten are available from my store.
The zip file contains:
1. PDF of the music
2. The lyrics in a separate Word document
3. An mp3 vocal backing track
4. An mp3 piano backing track
5. PowerPoint with both the vocal and piano tracks embedded (great if you have speakers attached to your whiteboard!). See the illustration to see the icons – the one on the top left is for the vocal, the one on the right is piano only.
6. PowerPoint of the staff notation
I hope you and your pupils enjoy singing the song! If you do you may want to check out my complete “Ancient Egypt” pack. It contains songs about Tutankhamun, pyramids, the Nile, mummies, hieroglyphics, the Sphinx, toys and games and Egyptian gods and goddesses.
I’d really appreciate your feedback!
Happy singing!
Donna
Building a Pyramid
Chorus:
Work, work, work, work!
Work, work, work, work!
Building in the sun
is hard for everyone,
working on a pyramid.
Logs to roll along,
great big blocks of stone.
That’s what the Egyptians did.
Chorus:
Work, work, work, work!
Work, work, work, work!
All the working men
were put in teams of ten,
under foreman’s watchful eye.
Working from a camp,
using earthen ramps,
building up towards the sky.
Chorus:
Work, work, work, work!
Work, work, work, work!
Giza’s Pyramid,
the biggest one there is,
built to please the sun god Re.
It took twenty years,
blood sweat and tears,
and two million stones they say.
Chorus:
Work, work, work, work!
Work, work, work, work!
Work, work, work until it’s done!
