What educators are saying

I normally do a life sized skeleton project and just didn't have time, this is similar and I love the personal touch!

Description

I am always looking for ways to bring creativity into science. This project has been a huge success over the years, not only allowing students to have a creative expression but also enabling them to better understand and remember the main bones of the human body.

Students will individually create a 2-D skeleton posed in a manner that shares something special about themselves.

I am always looking for ways to help my students remember content and this project has proven successful every time. Not only does this project help students begin to visual the joints (the next topic in class) but it also helps them recall the bones of the axial and appendicular skeleton as well as the rest of the bones that are required!

I generally introduce the project and allow the remainder of the class period for cutting out the bone pieces and brainstorming poses. I may allow one or two additional class periods for students to work on their project depending on how much they have accomplished in the first day and the skill level of the class.
